Â鶹AV
Since 1985, CIM has been a world leader in research on intelligent systems. Formed as an inter-departmental, inter-faculty research group between members of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science, our members seek to advance the state of knowledge across domains. Our main research themes revolve around robotics, artificial intelligence, computer vision, medical imaging, haptics, systems and control, computer animation, and reinforcement learning. Intelligent systems and machines are capable of adapting their behaviour by sensing and interpreting their environment, making decisions and plans, and then carrying out those plans using physical actions. Applications exist across all sectors and industries, and the demand for such systems is only increasing in the connected world we live in today.
These research goals are achieved through collaborative efforts involving full members at Â鶹AV and associate members around the world. Through partnerships with industry, granting agencies, and other universities, CIM strives to develop a robust network to further our goals. Our students have found careers in academia or industry, or create their own path through entrepreneurship. Alumni return regularly to the centre to share their experiences and inspire the next generation.
